Provence, located in the southeastern part of France, is one of the oldest wine regions in the country, with a history of winemaking dating back over 2,600 years. The region's winemaking traditions have been influenced by Greek, Roman, and medieval cultures. Provence is renowned for its production of rosé wines. In fact, over 80% of the wines produced in the region are rosés. The tradition of rosé in Provence dates back to the Greeks around 600 BCE.
