Statement on Fake Reviews

Last Updated: January 23, 2026

At Why Not? Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar, we believe in transparency, honesty, and earning our reputation through genuine customer experiences. This statement outlines our commitment to authentic reviews and our stance against fake reviews.

1. Our Commitment to Authenticity

Since opening our doors in 2012, we have built our reputation on authentic Italian cuisine and genuine hospitality. We believe in:

  • Earning every positive review through quality food and service
  • Learning from constructive criticism to improve
  • Never purchasing, soliciting, or fabricating fake reviews
  • Responding professionally to all customer feedback

2. What We Never Do

To maintain the integrity of our reviews, Why Not? Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar never:

  • Purchases positive reviews from individuals or agencies
  • Offers incentives (discounts, free items) specifically for positive reviews
  • Creates fake accounts to post reviews
  • Asks staff or friends to post fake reviews
  • Pays for the removal of negative reviews
  • Uses bots or automated systems to generate reviews

3. How We Encourage Honest Feedback

We welcome and appreciate honest reviews from our guests:

  • We may remind guests that we appreciate reviews, but never pressure them
  • We never specify that reviews should be positive
  • We provide the same quality service regardless of whether guests review us
  • We actively monitor and respond to reviews on all platforms

4. Review Platforms We Monitor

We actively monitor and respond to reviews on the following platforms:

  • Google Maps / Google Business
  • TripAdvisor
  • Facebook
  • Wongnai
  • HappyCow

If you encounter reviews about us on other platforms, they may not be verified by us.

5. Spotting Fake Reviews

We encourage our guests to be aware of fake reviews. Signs may include:

  • Generic language that could apply to any restaurant
  • Reviewers with only one review or suspicious patterns
  • Reviews mentioning dishes or services we don't offer
  • Extreme language (overly positive or negative) without specific details
  • Multiple reviews posted around the same time with similar wording

6. Reporting Suspicious Reviews

If you encounter a review that you believe is fake (positive or negative), please:

  • Report it directly to the platform (Google, TripAdvisor, etc.)
  • Contact us with details at legal@whynotchiangmai.com
  • Provide as much information as possible about why you believe it's fake

We take fake reviews seriously and will investigate all reports, whether they appear to help or harm our reputation.

7. Our Response to Reviews

We aim to respond to all reviews:

  • Positive reviews: We thank guests for their kind words and support
  • Constructive criticism: We acknowledge issues and explain how we're addressing them
  • Negative reviews: We apologize, investigate, and offer to make things right
  • Suspected fake reviews: We report them to the platform for investigation

8. Legal Position

We take fake reviews seriously from a legal perspective:

  • Fake positive reviews are a form of false advertising
  • Fake negative reviews constitute defamation
  • We reserve the right to take legal action against fake review campaigns
  • We cooperate with platforms to identify and remove fraudulent content

Our Promise to You

We promise to continue earning your trust through excellent food, genuine hospitality, and authentic experiences. Every review—positive or negative—helps us grow and improve. Thank you for being part of our Why Not? family.
